Lieutenant Colonel Andrew M. Lewis

Lieutenant Colonel Lewis is a native of Yorktown, NY.  He graduated from Boston College in 2007 and Georgetown University Law Center in 2010.  Following admission to the New York State Bar, he attended USMC Officer Candidate School, commissioning in 2011.  He then attended the Basic School and Naval Justice School, graduating from both in 2011.

From 2012-2015, Lieutenant Colonel Lewis was assigned to Camp Lejeune, where he served as a Trial Counsel and Complex Trial Counsel.  During this time, he also deployed to Hohenfels, Germany to serve as the Staff Judge Advocate for the Georgian Deployment Program – Mission Rehearsal Exercise.

Lieutenant Colonel Lewis applied for and was selected to serve as an instructor at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  From 2015-2018 he served as a military instructor, teaching classes in American Naval History and Military Law to hundreds of Midshipmen.  He also served as a Staff Platoon Commander for the Marine Detachment’s Leatherneck training in Quantico, as well as a USMC Practicum Instructor. 

Lieutenant Colonel Lewis was then selected on the Commandant’s Professional Intermediate-Level Education Board to attend The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School, in Charlottesville, VA.  In 2019 he earned his L.L.M. in Military Law, with a Concentration in Criminal Law, graduating on the Commandant’s List. 

In 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Lewis executed orders to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA, where he served as the Senior Defense Counsel for two years.  In the summer of 2021, he executed orders to Camp Pendleton, CA to assume the Senior Defense Counsel billet there, which he served in until 2023.

In 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Lewis was selected to become the first Officer-in-Charge for the Camp Pendleton branch of the newly created Office of Special Trial Counsel. 

In 2024, he was promoted to his current rank and assumed the duties of Regional Defense Counsel – West. 

Lieutenant Colonel Lewis hold degrees from Boston College (BA), Georgetown University Law Center (JD), and The U.S. Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School (LLM).  He is licensed to practice law in the State of New York.  His personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (second award) and the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award).  He is a graduate of both Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program and Command and Staff Distance Education Program.
